The deal adds producer royalty interests tied to Tracy Chapman, Joe Jackson and Marc Cohn as HarbourView pushes toward $4 billion in assets under management.
HarbourView Equity Partners has acquired David Kershenbaum’s interest in producer royalties and related rights across a set of master recordings he produced, including Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car.
The transaction, announced Thursday, also covers Chapman’s Baby Can I Hold You, Talkin’ Bout a Revolution, She’s Got Her Ticket and Crossroads. Other recordings in the deal include Joe Jackson’s Steppin’ Out, Is She Really Going Out With Him and Breaking Us in Two, plus Marc Cohn’s Walking in Memphis and Gallagher & Lyle’s I Wanna Stay with You. Financial terms were not disclosed.
HarbourView keeps leaning into royalty income
The purchase extends HarbourView’s run of catalog and royalty acquisitions, with producer income streams now part of the firm’s broader strategy. This is not its first move in that lane. In May 2025, HarbourView acquired Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins’ producer royalty income streams.
The Kershenbaum deal follows HarbourView’s purchase of select music and non-music assets from the estate of Quincy Jones in March, and the publisher’s share of select Wolf Cousins compositions in June. Those songs were written by Max Martin, Shellback and other members of the collective.
HarbourView said in its latest release that it now manages a diversified catalog of more than 41,000 songs across master recordings and publishing income streams.
Kershenbaum’s credits run across several eras of pop and rock
Kershenbaum produced Chapman’s self-titled debut, released in 1988, and its follow-up, Crossroads, a year later. His credits also include Joe Jackson’s Look Sharp!, Night and Day and Body and Soul, along with Marc Cohn’s self-titled debut.
HarbourView founder and CEO Sherrese Clarke pointed to Kershenbaum’s work with artists including Duran Duran, Tracy Chapman and Joe Jackson, and said his career has been recognized through more than 75 international awards and Grammy nominations.
Kershenbaum said HarbourView shares his appreciation for great songs and the creators behind them, and said he is excited to partner with a team that understands the body of work.
HarbourView’s AUM keeps climbing
The acquisition lands as HarbourView moves closer to a new milestone in assets under management. The firm said its regulatory AUM was approximately $3.88 billion as of December 31, 2025, up from $2.67 billion a year earlier. In April 2024, HarbourView said its regulatory AUM was roughly $1.5 billion.
By the company’s own reporting, that puts it on track to pass $4 billion this year. HarbourView says its regulatory AUM for private funds includes uncalled committed capital pursuant to an obligation to make a capital contribution to the fund.
Founded by Clarke in 2021 with backing from Apollo Global Management, HarbourView is headquartered in Newark, New Jersey. Fox Rothschild served as legal counsel on the transaction.
