The first look at Miley’s new album arrives with a Mert Alas-directed clip and two Hollywood Bowl dates set for October.
Miley Cyrus has kicked off the rollout for her next album, Bass Persuades, with a title track and a new video that leans hard into leather culture. The project marks her first release under the newly adopted mononym Miley, and it follows last year’s Something Beautiful.
A new era under a single name
The title track arrives as the first preview of Bass Persuades, which Cyrus announced last week. The song pushes into pop and post-punk territory, with contributions from New York art punks Model/Actriz. The video was directed by Mert Alas.
Cyrus framed the record in a statement posted to Instagram, writing: “Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong. Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between.”
Release date and Hollywood Bowl dates
Bass Persuades is set for release on September 18. Cyrus will mark the album with two shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 16 and October 17.
The rollout comes during a busy stretch for the singer. Since Something Beautiful, she has issued a deluxe edition of that album and appeared in a Hannah Montana 20th-anniversary special, complete with the blonde wig that helped define an earlier chapter of her career.
What the first preview signals
For now, the title track and video set the tone: a sharper, more stylized turn that pairs a pop hook with a post-punk edge. The visual language is as deliberate as the name change. Cyrus is not easing into this phase. She is making it plain from the first frame.
