Adéla’s ‘nicole Kidman’ Video Leans Hard Into Movie-star Mythology

Hannah Lux Davis directs a clip packed with references to Kidman’s signature screen roles as Adéla rolls out her debut album and first headlining tour.

Adéla is selling a very specific fantasy with her new “Nicole Kidman” video: not just pop-star polish, but full-on movie-star mythmaking. The clip, directed by Hannah Lux Davis, pulls from some of Nicole Kidman’s most recognizable screen moments and turns them into a glossy tribute that knows exactly what it is doing.

A pop song built around a Golden Globes moment

The song began with a real-life flash of recognition. Adéla said the idea came after she attended a Golden Globes event and got dressed up in a way that made her feel like Kidman herself. “I’ve never been in a movie, but I got all glammed up, put into a dress, had my hair done, and I looked really good,” she said. “My hair was super bouncy, and my corset was so tight that I thought, ‘I feel like Nicole Kidman right now.’”

She said she then watched Eyes Wide Shut and became “obsessed” with Kidman. “To me, she is the movie star,” Adéla said. That line is the whole pitch. The song and video are built around the idea of Kidman as a standard, not just a reference point.

Hannah Lux Davis turns the references into a visual package

The video doesn’t just nod at Kidman’s career. It stages the references with intent. According to the source material, the clip includes callbacks to Eyes Wide Shut, Moulin Rouge, Birth, Babygirl, and Kidman’s AMC commercial, one of the most recognizable ads in recent memory. That mix gives the video a wide frame: prestige drama, pop spectacle, and a little self-aware camp.

Davis, who has built a career on high-gloss pop visuals, is the right director for this kind of assignment. The result is less imitation than homage, with Adéla placing herself inside a pre-existing star image and using it as part of her own rollout.

Debut album rollout, then the road

“Nicole Kidman” appears on Adéla’s debut album, Prima, out today. The release follows her debut EP, The Provocateur, and continues the world-building she said she wanted to do after that first project. Last year, she told Rolling Stone that the EP showed people she was “a good performer and artist,” but that she had not yet had the chance to build a world. “I really want to do that with the album,” she said.

She also framed the project in plain terms: “At the end of the day, I’m just a pop girl. I’m young, I’m going to be singing and I want to be dancing. And I want to be really honest.” That combination — performance, image, and directness — is what the new video is selling.

Adéla will also launch her first-ever headlining tour next week. The North American run includes stops in Detroit, Toronto, New York, Nashville, Atlanta, Seattle, Los Angeles, and Mexico, before she heads to Europe and the U.K. next year for dates in Dublin, London, Berlin, Prague, Oslo, Warsaw, and more. For now, the video does the heavy lifting: it tells viewers exactly what kind of pop star she wants to be seen as.
